CRUSH(ED) explores the idea that “the closet is not just for gay people”– that in fact we all have sides to us that we keep to ourselves. Many people pretend that things in their life are more okay than they actually are. And not only that, but we often lie as we contort ourselves into being someone we think other people would want us to be. Yet as we shapeshift to fit into the often times constraining social norms, we quietly suffer. Veera’s late bloomer coming-of-age story explores the hopeful message that even though living your messy truth might be a more rocky road, it is worth the trek.
